Dr. Brian Anderson serves as the Program Director for the Space Studies department of the American Public University. He oversees the development and operation of over forty graduate and undergraduate courses for the world’s largest space education program. Dr. Anderson has over 25 years of experience in military and civil space operations. Dr. Anderson has been published in multiple periodicals and is a guest lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the United Kingdom’s Joint Services Command and Staff College as well as US professional military education institutions. He and his family currently reside in Layton, Utah.
After attending SCORRETM as a student in 2007, Sarah Beckman founded Salt and clay ministries – pursuing her dream as a Christian Communicator.
Sarah shares her passion for Salty living with audiences while speaking and blogging on topics including loving your neighbor, sharing your faith, safeguarding your marriage and walking closer with God. The youngest of 14 kids, Sarah’s powerful story permeates her life and ministry.
Married to Craig 21 years and mother of 3 teens, Sarah makes her home in Albuquerque, NM. Life wouldn’t be the same without family, friends, coffee, sailing, hiking, green chile…and teaching SCORRETM!
Candie has been an instructor and coach for SCORRE™ since 1985 and speaks at retreats and gatherings around the country. She is a pastor and passionate about bringing together sound exegesis, creative organization, and dynamic delivery. SCORRE is the best tool to do just that. Candie currently serves as Pastor of Discipleship, Care, and Engagement for San Clemente Presbyterian Church in San Clemente, California. Candie loves to walk the beach and oil paint. Candie’s husband Drew is an editor for InterVarsity Press and they have three married children, and three grandchildren who, to their delight, all live in Southern California.
With over 15 years experience in the insurance industry, Stacy Cholas understands the need for effective communication in the business world. She started her career as a Regional Manager for a Fortune 100 company. She now works side by side with her husband running their independent agency, Cholas Insurance. In addition to daily operations, she also serves in the role of Marketing and Sales Director. When away from the office, Stacy is an avid archery hunter, quilter and mommy to two busy boys.
A storyteller at heart, Michele Cushatt inspires audiences on both the stage and the page. Her speaking experience includes Women of Faith, Focus on the Family, Compassion International, as well as writers conferences, business and church events, and various other conferences and retreats. Michele fills multiple roles at all three DCI conferences including emcee, presenter and coach.
Pulling from her unique life experiences, Michele’s first book, a memoir will be published by Zondervan in 2015, to be followed by a second 2016. In addition, she pens articles, stories and devotional meditations for numerous online and print publications.
Michele and her husband, Troy, live in Colorado with their six children. She enjoys a good book, a long run, and a kitchen table filled with people.
Ryan Daffron is a church planter of Edge Community Church in South Orange County, California. In addition, he partners with Greater Reach, Inc,a ministry in South Sudan. Through Christ-Centered relationships, he comes alongside indigenous church leaders and their emerging ministries in order to encourage, equip, resource, and advocate what God is calling them to do. He has a Masters of Divinity from Azusa Pacific University. He has been married to Mindy since 1996 and has two great kids.
Byron Emmert is Director of Leadership Development at Eagle Brook Church in Minnesota. He’s been part of SCORRETM from the very beginning (of the workshop, not the world). Byron is a graduate of John Brown University with a degree in Communications and Biblical Studies. During his thirty plus years in ministry, he’s worked as a youth pastor, Campus Life director, senior pastor, and VP of Leadership Development for YFC/USA. He enjoys speaking to all ages and coaching. Byron and his wife Linda live in Minneapolis and love hanging out with their three married children and eight grandchildren.
Joy has been part of the DCI family since 1997. She enjoys using SCORRETM in a variety of settings including classroom, conferences, writing proposals, church meetings, preaching, and arguing with her pre-teen daughters.
For ten years, Joy worked with Youth for Christ/USA as an event producer, writer and mission trip leader. She completed an MDIV at Denver Seminary in 2004 and was awarded the Raymond McLaughlin Preaching Award. Joy continues to show up on campus as a Preaching Coach and Adjunct Professor. She has been co-pastor at First Christian Reformed Church in Denver since 2004. Joy and her husband Bob celebrated 25 years of marriage in 2012.
Michael is a co-lead pastor and teaching pastor at Alethia Church in Colorado Springs as well as a Christian communicator. He has a history of more than 15 years in ministry, and has been on the SCORRETM staff since 2005. He and his wife, Mandy, are from Texas, but call Colorado home. They have four kids: Drew, Noah, Isaac, and Lindley. Michael is a teacher and worship leader, but really just loves being a husband and dad. He loves Starbucks, Texas A&M, good food, good football, good friends, being active, and the view outside their window.
Keith Ferrin is an author, speaker, blogger, and storyteller. He founded That You May Know Ministries in 1996 and travels around the U.S. and internationally, speaking at conferences, churches, retreats, universities and wherever people will let him. He utilizes humor, practical workshops, and word-for-word presentations of whole books of the Bible (we’re not kidding!) to help people fall in love with God’s Word and its Author.
He also founded True Success Coaching and coaches individuals and teams in the area of improving team communication and individual public speaking. Oh… and he believes that coffee and ice cream are mankind’s greatest achievements.
Bobby has been married to his lovely wife Jill for 37 years. He is father of three grown children and grandfather to seven.
He is currently the Executive Pastor at Shelter Cove Community Church in Modesto, California. Bobby has a unique background of over twenty five years in the business world before transitioning into ministry in 2000. He is passionate about the local church and its role in the surrounding community. He is committed to the mission of Dynamic Communicators International and the SCORRETMConference to bring clarity and focus to all who have a message to share–especially those who proclaim the Word of Christ.
Curtis Fletcher has been an integral part of the SCORRETM family for close to 20 years. During that time he has applied the principles of SCORRETM while working in a variety of companies in a variety of roles ranging from Youth Pastor to Internet Programming Analyst, from Marketing Director to CTO, and from VP of Strategy to Personal Coach. Curtis is currently a Senior Manager with Hitachi Consulting in their Oracle practice.

Stacey Foster has instructed and motivated audiences for nearly two decades, with a relevant message that reaches beyond culture, ethnicity, age and vocation. Since 2007, Stacey has been a coach with the SCORRETM conference. Additionally, he is a spokesman for Compassion International Ministries, and his resume includes keynote addresses at Promise Keepers, Youth for Christ DC/LA gatherings, Youth Specialties and Creation, the nation’s largest Christian music festival.
Stacey is currently the Senior Pastor of Life Changers International Ministries in the heart of Detroit, where he’s trained and equipped leaders since 1995. He continues to instruct thousands of pastors, executives and emerging leaders through conferences, seminars and workshops.
Born and raised in Guatemala, Fernando helps organizations understand how communication principles and practices can be applied in organizational settings for the generation of better work environments. He holds a B.A in Mass Communications and an MSc in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs.
An English-Spanish interpreter since 1999, he has also experienced first-hand the power of effective communication from some of the world’s most outstanding speakers. Fernando has applied the SCORRE™ method in a variety of settings since attending as a student in early 2014. He currently lives in Guatemala with his wife Jessica and their two daughters –soon to be three– where he’s currently co-writing his first book (about communication, of course).
Matt is a Pastor and Speaker. He currently serves at Faith Promise Church as a Campus Pastor.

Pete Hardesty is the College Director for a non-profit organization called Young Life at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is also the Divisional Coordinator for the eastern part of the US. He loves being around college students even though they make him feel old. Pete grew up in Baltimore, MD and went to college at the University of Virginia. He began working for Young Life right out of college in 1997. During that time, he crammed 3 years of grad school into 17 finally getting a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in 2014. He is grateful for the SCORRE™ conference and eager for others to experience breakthroughs in their communication.
Mark first attended the conference in 1987, and has been a raving fan since.
“Not a day goes by where I don’t apply some of the core principles of SCORRETM. This is by far the most practical and impactful training I’ve ever been a part of.” After almost 30 years of serving in a variety of leadership roles with Youth for Christ on a local, national and international level, Mark currently serves as the Executive Pastor of Gracespring Bible Church in Michigan. He has been married 33 years to his bride, Debbie, and they have three adult girls.
Jay and Laura Laffoon, authors of numerous books and DVDs, have often been billed as “marriage edu-tainers,” fearlessly putting their real marriage of almost 30 years on display. Their comedy infused Ultimate Date Night Tour regularly plays in cities across the country, while their weekly online talk show Jay & Laura T.V. offers practical and witty tips on connecting both as a couple and a family. The Laffoons have two children and live in Michigan.
For a number of years, Dan served as Vice President of Production & Marketing for Ken Davis Productions. Along with producing Ken Davis comedy, teaching and training videos (among others), Dan created a two-minute, daily radio program called “Lighten Up!” featuring Ken Davis, which is now heard on over 1700 stations around the world. In addition, Dan directed the SCORRETM Conference and has been a presenter and coach for over 20 years.
Currently, Dan is the Executive Director for Denver Area Youth for Christ. He is married to Esther and they have three children: Caitlin, Dillon and Kendall. Dan and Esther’s first grandson turned two in August.
Jimmy McGuire has been a Senior Pastor for 40 years. He served as the first Pastor in his first church in Brandon, MS., for 23 years, followed by 10 years in a megachurch in Michigan. Currently, he’s serving in a new church development in Livonia, Michigan.
Jimmy has been married to Lucy for 42 years, and has three grown sons. Among his favorite Scriptures are Gal. 5:6b “All that matters is faith that expresses itself in love.” He has been on staff with the SCORRETM Conference since 1992, and considers the unique SCORRETM program as critical in his own growth as a pastor and public speaker.
Chris has had a passion for communication since he first began speaking at Youth for Christ events while still in high school. After graduating from Grace College with a degree in Student Ministries, he moved back home to Central Florida and has served on the pastoral staff of First Baptist Orlando since 2011. Chris’s greatest passion is in helping people understand and connect with the gospel in meaningful ways. Currently, he is working toward a Masters of Divinity through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife, Nikki, and his two beautiful little girls, Adyson and Alyvia.
In 2000, Mason graduated from Providence Seminary and started his position as senior pastor at the Pembina Evangelical Free Church in Pembina, ND. Nurturing his passion for excellent communication, Mason participated as a student of the SCORRETM Conference in 2003 and has served as certified coach since 2007. While training others in communication, leadership, and relational skills, Mason also speaks to various groups inspiring them to live life abundantly, fully realizing the joy of experiencing grace. Mason is married to Vanessa and together they have 3 children: Spencer, Kassidy, and Madisson.
Soozung Sa Rankin lives and works in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She’s Director of Community Development at an Episcopal church. Her husband Brian and she have a son, and live with two rescue dogs. In ministry for over 30 years in a variety of United Methodist settings, she has been a part of the SCORRETM scene since 1999. She volunteers in the community, enjoys running, writing, cooking, and directing “band practice” for her young son. Soozung travels helping others fulfill their mission as leaders. She has special interests in personality types and learning styles.
For 20 years, Lewie Schultz pastored churches in the states of Minnesota, Oregon and Washington. He has facilitated city-wide leadership prayer summits in 23 US cities for International Renewal Ministries. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment is raising eight–yes, EIGHT!–children, including two fake (but very much loved!) ones that he adopted from Russia. For the past 6 years Lewie has worked in marketing for Direct Buy and Ecowater International.
Herb has been involved with the SCORRETM workshop for over 25 years. He holds a BA in Bible and Ministry and an MA in Organizational Leadership. In ministry for over 30 years, he is “not your typical” pastor, involved in leadership training, writing, mentoring and coaching within and beyond the local church. Herb uses humor and stories to connect with people make the Bible come alive. He currently is pastor of New Song Community Church in Pittsburgh, PA and the Director of the Institute for Servant Leadership. Herb and Sheila have 4 grown children.
Herb has recently published a book, “From Where God Sits” to rave reviews.
Scott serves in Operations as part of Chick-fil-A’s corporate staff. He leads a team of consultants whose role is to help Chick-fil-A franchisees achieve their goals and maximize their business opportunity. Other experience includes being a Chick-fil-A franchisee, managing a profit center for a publicly traded retailer, and serving in the United States Army as an Infantry office and as an instructor in the mountain phase of Ranger School. Scott’s educational background includes a BA in Literature and an MBA in Leadership Development. He has been married to Anna for 22 years and they have four children.
